| Features: Bolt on replacement for the medium riser and high riser Ford iron FE heads for those applications. (A small bore version is also available for the 428 bore size, but will use a medium riser intake port, which can be opened up to CJ size is so desired.) Designed to be the best, most versatile street/strip FE Cylinder head available. Garrett Machine offers finish machine service on the heads and extensize port flow improvment work from street rod to all out racing. Including custom intake manifolds. These heads are useable with light port matching and bowl cleanup but we can port them to flow over 350 CFM (because of the advanced port design and approximately 0.300" port wall.) All versions of the Blue Thunder FE cylinder head come with high riser rocker pad height and use high riser stands. They include three "Time Serts" inserted in each of the four rectangular rocker pads; (one standard 3/8" inserted hole, and one 7/16" inserted hole opposite each valve.) This will allow the optiion of stud mount rocker arms or Garrett Machine's special billet rocker support system with three bolt hold down per valve station. A total of twelve bolts holding the rocker shaft system! In addition the rocker pad and the spring pad are raised (+0.100" on the medium riser port cylinder head and +0.200" on the high riser port cylinder head, above high riser rocker pad standard height. This allows us to work with the valve train geometry with out using shims. There is enough material to machine rocker pads and spring seats down to standard height with out cutting into the Time Serts. This design of large rectangular rocker stand pads will allow the most stable high RPM valve train ever used on a push rod style FE; and still allow the use of standard high riser rocker stands. All Blue Thunder cylinder heads are cast at aircraft foundries using A356 aluminum, which is heat treated to T6 aircraft standards. High quality machined surfaces. (No short cuts like belt sanding of gasket surfaces.) All Blue Thunder heads are pressure checked to over 60 psi. Extra thick deck surface for structural integrity. Standard features include Time Serts, (a threaded solid steel bushing to keep bolts from striping out of the aluminum, not a spiral wound insert.) Head bolt seats, to prevent the head of the bolt from pushing into the aluminum while fastening, and 10 machined, hardened Blanchard ground flat washers. Interlocking ductile iron intake and exhaust seats. Supplied with managese-silicon-aluminum bronze 0.0015" undersize bronze guide for Sunnen Diamond honing for perfect fit on valve. All guides and seats are thermally pressed using liquid nitrogen to preclude metal displacement during installation. (Again no short cuts.) Blue Thunder FE cylinder heads are available with a modern quench/heart shaped chamber as cast; or a fully machined medium riser style chamber. Uses 14mm 3/4" reach spark plug. Garrett Machine offers high RPM performance rocker arm assemblies, custom valves, springs, valve covers, ect. to fit your needs. |
